Understanding

Regardless if you are new to Agile and Lean, or your organization is now doing Agile, a better understanding of the principles and practices is crucial for team and organizational improvement. Education on the Lean-Agile principles helps software professionals focus on what’s important.  Principles also provide answers to the difficult questions like, “Why are these methods better for software development efforts than our traditional methods?”

Lean-Agile practices provide the empirical evidence for teams, managers, and organizations to observe the principles in action.  This learning reinforces the effort spent on Lean-Agile education and training.  An example of practiced-based learning is starting with a small number of Agile pilot projects or teams. The organization can learn the benefits of Lean-Agile methods by examples and observation.

KanFlow’s approach places special emphasis on understanding the work of software development.  In our new world of knowledge work, we are finding better ways to manage and coordinate software development activities. The first step is gaining a better understanding of the nature of the work itself. Why is software development different than many other industries? Why do some traditional management methods fail to provide an environment where software teams can excel?
